Code of conduct for remedial teachers

  1. The remedial teacher ought to keep Dutch Law.
  2. The remedial teacher ought to act after the contents and spirit of the professional code.
  3. The remedial teacher ought not to carry out work that goes against prevailing values and norms.
  4. The remedial teacher ought to give any client the treatment that is best for him/her.
  5. The remedial teacher ought to give an indication of the cost involved before the treatment.
  6. The remedial teacher practises his/her profession at the level of his/her expertise.
  7. The remedial teacher ought to decide whether a treatment will have a possible result, on the basis of his/her expertise.
  8. The remedial teacher ought not to arouse unjustified expectations.
  9. The remedial teacher ought to respect the limits of his/her professional expertise.
  10. The remedial teacher ought to maintain and develop his/her professional expertise, taking into account the recent developments in his/her speciality.
  11. The remedial teacher ought to respect the right of his/her client to consult other experts.

  20. The remedial teacher ought to keep client accounts in a correct way.
  21. The remedial teacher ought to make a report of his/her work, so that he/she can account for his/her method.
  22. The remedial teacher ought to keep the reports mentioned in article 22 for a minimum of 5 years. After concluding the treatment and after these 5 years the remedial teacher is obligated to destroy the reports mentioned in article 22, at an appropriate moment.

With respect to not complying with the professional profile and the accompanying code of conduct the client, resp. the parents/guardians and anyone else who is also aware of it has the right to file a complaint with the board of the LBRT.
