Remedial Teaching | What is dyslexia

Dyslexia is a disorder in leaning to read and spell, which origin lies in a deficient linguistic development and linguistic skills. Dyslexia originates in familiar hereditary. Dyslexia has nothing to do with intelligence. One in twenty people has dyslexia and in children that is even one in ten.

It is difficult to define dyslexia. There are various views that are sometimes directly opposed. The foundation Dyslexia the Netherlands (SDN) drew up the following definition in 2003:

"Dyslexia is a disorder that is characterized by a persistent problem with acquiring and accurately/or smoothly applying of reading and/or spelling at word level"
